Our Penn Township Zoning Hearing Board consists of three (3) members with one (1) alternate, appointed by resolution of the Board of Supervisors.  Members fill a three (3) year term.  The Zoning Officer should be present at all meetings and provide technical assistance as needed.  The following are functions of the Zoning Hearing Board:


1.  Challenges to the validity of any land use ordinance.
2.  Procedural challenges to any land use ordinance.
3.  Appeals from the determination of the zoning officer, including granting or denial of any permit.
4.  Appeals from a determination by the municipal engineer or zoning officer with respect to the administration and provisions of the flood plain ordinance.
5.  Applications for variances.
6.  Applications for special exceptions.
7.  Appeals from the determination of the zoning officer regarding transfers of development rights or performance density provisions of the zoning ordinance.
8.    Appeals from the zoning officer’s determination for a preliminary opinion.
9.  Appeals from the determination of the zoning officer or municipal engineer regarding stormwater management for building on single lot.
